Alleged Former WB Employee Slams Company Over DCEU
A supposed former employee of WB has written an open letter seriously trashing Warner Bros. course of action so far with the DCEU movies in addition to a few other things
To say the DCEU is off to a rocky start is an understatement. They just haven’t had that universally acclaimed breakout hit yet and they have had three tries at it now if you count Man of Steel. At best their films have been super divisive, especially between more hardcore comic book fans (who lets face it, might be super pleased just to see these characters on the big screen and not care that much about things like if the plot makes any sense) and mainstream movie critics.
Now a supposed former WB employee has written an open letter under a pseudonym. It’s actually about an apparent history of many apparent mistakes by WB. Ranging from how they handled layoffs to botched projects such as Blended with Adam Sandler, the failure of Edge Of Tomorrow due to poor marketing and other things. But it starts off with the author being basically flummoxed at how they could mess up such a surefire DCEU project like Suicide Squad with Will Smith, Margot Robbie & The Joker. The author also claims Zack Snyder is being protected after delivering two disappointments in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman while people under him suffered. The letter even claims the panel at San Diego Comic Con’s Hall H this year was a mess and went back between rushed and boring.
Of course any outsider observer could easily make these statements. Where the letter gets super interesting is that it claims the next DCEU film, Wonder Woman (which since as far as we know Batman is not involved we don’t really report on with this site) is a similar mess with a great trailer once again fooling people into thinking it’s an awesome movie.
Wonder Woman Director Patty Jenkins actually took to Twitter to refute these statements:
Next: 10 Superhero Movies Worse Than Batman v Superman Or Suicide Squad
Truth be told, these are claims and observations that could be made by pretty much anyone. Nearly all of this stuff, especially the string of recent theatrical flops (and not just limited to the DCEU but pretty much all of WB’s recent films) is public knowledge. Then again, every director of a DCEU film so far has claimed there were no issues and everything was going swimmingly. Until the movie actually came out. Then the reports of studio meddling & different cut come out. Wonder Women comes out in theaters June 2nd, 2017. I guess we’ll see if this is all true then.
