Gotham: Villains Have Shared Mission
The villains will have a unifying cause in Gotham season 3
Villains generally don’t get along very well. Oh sure they’ll team up here and there, but often those alliances will fall apart due to ego or something. But in season three of Gotham, villains who are enemies will find a unifying mission. That mission is dealing with the army of freakish monsterrific science fiction experiments that escaped from Indian Hill at the end of season 2. Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Penguin on the show, explained the reconciliation of characters such as Penguin & Butch, who have a complicated history to put it mildly:
"Penguin has found himself again after going through Arkham Asylum and all of that. And then, also, with the emergence of the monsters and Fish Mooney, it gives him a direction — in a way it got him to focus on something, so now he’s back to himself, he has a purpose. To rid Gotham of the monsters.Going forward, it’s an interesting storyline in the sense that now all of the villains have a unifying mission — which is, again, to get rid of the monsters. And you’ll see our three characters reconcile each other — and they need each other in order to accomplish this. Alliances, as they have been since the beginning of ‘Gotham,’ have been changing, and we’re all working together now for this unified call."

Of course, one of these monsters is the resurrected Fish Mooney, who is looking to raise an army of super powered freaks to take over the city . Will these villains be key in stopping her rise to power? Will they join with Gotham’s heroes to fight this common foe as well? Maybe not, since the tagline for season 3 is “heroes will fall”. Gotham returns on Fox Monday, September 19th!
