Kevin Conroy has a problem with how Batman was portrayed in Batman v Superman

For many, there is only one true Batman. No, not Adam West or Christian Bale or even Michael Keaton. It’s Kevin Conroy, the man who has voiced the Dark Knight in various animated TV shows, movies & video games for over two decades. So as someone so entrenched in the world of Batman, when Kevin Conroy has something to say about his movie counterpart, it’s probably worth listening.

And while he’s taken his sweet time making a statement about it, Kevin Conroy is not happy that Batman seems to be a pretty callous murderer in Batman v Superman:

"Personally I love the fact that Batman – in the stories I’ve done, and the way he’s been rendered by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, the people I’ve worked with most closely – he never kills anybody. He doesn’t cross that line. Batman is not a killer. In the most recent live action movie, that seems to have been a line that was crossed and it’s not one I’m particularly comfortable with."

Of course, in pretty much every movie version of Batman, he hasn’t had much trouble killing people. But in Batman v Superman, he really ratchets up the kill count even if you exclude the dream sequence. Plus there’s an argument that Batman v Superman should’ve been as close to the comics as possible, and the Batman of the comics doesn’t kill.

Making Batman someone who has no problem killing thugs is certainly one of the more divisive aspects of Batman v Superman. You can try and argue that he’s better now. Hey, he didn’t try to kill anybody in Suicide Squad, he just smashed Joker’s teeth in! Batman v Superman is on video now.
