Kevin Smith Thinks DC Has Gotten The Message
Kevin Smith is very positive that Warner Bros. & DC have listened to fans & critics and it will really show in the Justice League movie.
The reaction to Batman v Superman was bad. Really, really bad. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. seems to have put DC on this train that won’t stop, but they can still adjust along the way. Suicide Squad is definitely a victim of this sudden adjustment. It’s very apparent that they tried to change a darker film into something lighter. For many it did not work.
Kevin Smith is definitely somewhat of a DC cheerleader. He saw Batman v Superman until he liked it. He saw Suicide Squad and was pretty positive on it. He directs DC shows. So Kevin Smith may not be the most reliable guy on this stuff. However, he does claim that Warner Bros. has definitely gotten the message and it will start with Justice League:
"The audience that pays to see these things are like, ‘There’s a certain set of standards that we want when we come see these superhero movies, and, yes, most of those standards have been set for us by Marvel… regardless, this is what we want in our superhero movies. We don’t want doom and gloom. We want them to like each other. We want them to have an interplay. It looks like (Warner Bros. and DC Comics) heard that loud and clear and everything that was missing or perceived to be missing from Batman v Superman seems like it’s in full display on Justice League, so I’m on board. I was already on board, but I’m very happy to see that they’re taking that direction."

Kevin Smith isn’t the most reliable on these kind of things. He spent three episodes of his podcast building up Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four before it came out and tanked. That being said, it definitely seems from the early footage we’ve seen that Justice League represents a big positive change in direction.
But what does that mean for the films that have already happened, and for Wonder Woman, which may or may not fall under this change? Will Warner Bros. be spending so much effort on these corrections everything won’t really be right until we are 10 movies in? Guess we’ll find out next year.
