Suicide Squad Comic Mirrors Movie

The new Suicide Squad comic closely resembles the movie. With one big exception…

Despite being based on comics, movies don’t often reflect what’s currently going on in comics. Reasons for this are many, but the most common is obviously that movies can take years to make and comics come out at least once a month. One just can’t keep up with the other. That even goes for line-ups in a super team. Did you know in Guardians of The Galaxy Star Lord is now a woman and The Thing is a member? That won’t happen in the Marvel movie series for a couple of different reasons. At least not anytime soon.

So with Suicide Squad getting a semi-fresh start with a new series post-Rebirth, it’s actually surprising that hey, the line-up pretty much resembles what you see on the big screen in theaters now. Some of the members have been long-time constants, such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn & Captain Boomerang. And Amanda Waller as usual is the one putting this team of super villains together for the supposed greater good. But Killer Croc and Enchantress are also in the line-up. They have not been members previously except in the movie. And like in the movie, Katana is introduced as Rick Flagg’s second-in-command.

The one big difference in the comic seems to be Belle Reve Prison. In the movie, it’s a maximum security prison housing the worst of the worst. But in the comics, it’s gotten one hell of an upgrade. Each prisoner is in their own container and is moved around by mechanical arms. Check it out below:

While this would’ve been awesome to see on film, it was probably a little to expensive even for a big budget blockbuster. Suicide Squad #1 is available now.
