Return To Arkham Returning This October

The remastered collection of the first two Batman Arkham games, Arkham Asylum & Arkham City, titled Return To Arkham, will come out this October after a lengthy delay

The Batman Arkham games. One of the most seminal series of the last generation and easily two of the best superhero games ever made. Seems like a real no-brainer for a remaster for current gen systems like so many others have done. And that was happening when Return To Arkham was announced. Containing Arkham Asylum & Arkham City remastered in the Unreal 4 engine. Should’ve been an easy layup, right? After all, remasters are a dime a dozen even before this generation.

But for whatever reason, from the moment Return To Arkham was announced, something seemed wrong about it. Mainly from the comparison video. The one that compared the previous games to the newer, supposedly prettier remastered versions. The newer, remastered versions actually looked noticeably worse than the original games. After enough outcry, Warner Bros. pushed the game from July to whenever they felt it would be given enough extra polish.

Well apparently that time is just about 6 weeks from now. A new comparison video for Return To Arkham was released along with a release date of October 18th. Does this new video show significant improvement? You can judge for yourself by checking it out below:

It seems pretty obvious from this video compared to the earlier one that a few months of polish helped Return To Arkham drastically. Arkham Asylum & Arkham City were great-looking games already, but this remaster does put in some great little extra levels of detail here and there. Though some of the character models could use some work. That may be fixed by the time the game releases or even with a patch not long after. Return To Arkham comes out October 18th for Xbox One & PS4 for $49.99.
