Dragoncon 2017: You Should Be Planning Now

It really never is too early to start planning for Dragoncon

Dragoncon 2016 just came and went. But if you aren’t already prepared for next year you are already behind. It might be hard to imagine with the next one being 357 days away. We don’t even know who any of the guests are yet! But for one of the biggest fan conventions in the U.S., you might as well start your planning now if you are even thinking about going.

First, if you buy your 4 day pass for the event within the next 11 days, you’ll get the best deal at $80. That’s only $20 a day, which is a great deal for any convention. The price goes up after September 19th and will continue to periodically rise. The sooner you buy your passes the better. Of course one alternative is to write for a site like this one and go as press! FanSided is always taking applications for contributors, and Caped Crusades especially is looking for some talented and passionate writers who are also Batman fans.

Another reason is hotels. It is true that there are many quality hotels in Atlanta, and you can book them at any time. But the heart of the action for Dragoncon is right there on Peachtree Street where all the host hotels are. Many of those are already booked, but there’s still a few downtown within walking distance. A great resource is also the Dragoncon Hotel Connection Facebook page. You can get updates on room availability and even seek out willing roommates for the con (which can be a great way to save money and make new friends).

Dragoncon has been a tremendous time the two times I have gone. I just booked my hotel for next year. Yes it’s near downtown, but those are going very fast. If you want to get the best experience for the price, it’s best to plan your trip now if you haven’t already. Check the official page for updates on guests, hotels and special airfare rates as well.
