Some big changes are coming to DC Universe Online Soon

DC Universe Online is currently easily the best way to live out your superhero fantasies in a huge world filled with actual comic book characters. And it’s been going strong for 5 years now with now signs of slowing down. Hell, it just recently came to Xbox One, bringing in a whole new potential audience.

Of course key for any MMO is to be able to attract new players and not make them feel like they are completely lost. With that in mind, DC Universe Online is set to roll out some rather significant changes in the near future in order to make the game a more accessible experience. The most important changes to the game are as follows:

  • Removing combat rating differential
  • Smoothing out how you gain stats over the course of your character’s life
  • Redistributing where stats come from
  • Revamping stat-related skill points

The removal of combat rating differential will probably be the most welcome change. It’s essentially scaling enemies up or down based on your level. I have yet to find a game where this is balanced particularly well. It always seems to scale the most basic enemies to ridiculous levels or just make some enemies far too easy.

New systems will also be in place to replace the Midrange & Advanced Mechanics systems. These will essentially balance out damage dispersal much more efficiently and won’t necessarily be based on things like the distance from your target.

There is no date as to when these changes would be implemented. They will just be released when they are ready. That might be with the next big content update, it might be after that. DC Universe Online is currently available on PS3, PS4, PC & Xbox One.
