Every fight in Injustice 2 will grow your character

Injustice 2 is coming our way next year, and the DC Comics-based brawler will not just feature new stages and characters. Unique to the game is a loot system where ach fight will bring you gear that can change your character’s stats. You might get some gauntlets that improve your strength or defense. A headpiece that will grant you a new move. This allows for a lot of customization in Injustice 2. Your Batman will be different from anybody else’s Batman.

And this new video shows how the gear system actually works in execution in addition to showing off some new environments. The gear system is cosmetic as well, so your character’s appearance can change quite drastically depending on the gear you equip them with. A very cool additional feature is that you can change your character’s equipment in-between rounds. That allows you to equip new gear right away, but also try a different setup quickly if your current customization doesn’t seem to be getting the job done. Check out the video below:

As someone who does enjoy fighting games, but doesn’t really like playing online a whole lot, this is hugely appealing to me. Granted, the gear system is certainly something that will benefit for online multi-player as well. But as a long-time rpg nut, getting new gear and loot is something that hits a deep itch in my veins and will likely keep me playing long after I finish any story stuff. And Injustice had a surprisingly solid story, especially for a fighting game. It will be interesting to see if they can really balance “thousands” of pieces of gear and keep it so everyone is truly unique. Injustice 2 is coming to the Xbox One, PS4 & PC sometime next year.
