Unboxing: Jada Toys Metals Die Cast “Women Of DC” Figures
By Steve Lam
Metals Die Cast: M357 “Batgirl”
The M357 “Batgirl” figure is rendered from the New 52 incarnation which was designed by Babs Tarr. Metals Die Cast’s cartoonish, whimsical look is actually a perfect fit for this figure, since Tarr’s artwork captures this spirit.
The purple and the yellow on the costume are bright with no color distortions, and the pose is perfect. The figure looks as if it’ll come to life at any moment. It ‘s hard to see in still images, but there is a very “animated” quality to the sculpt.
Metals Die Cast: M362 “Supergirl”
The M362 “Supergirl” figure is also modeled after the character seen in the New 52. The blue of her costume has a sparkle-like sheen. The red of the cape is very bold, as it should be for any member of the “Super” family.
Everything about the model is comic-accurate and captures the essence of Supergirl perfectly. From the pose to the design of the face, the figure looks like it jumped straight out of the comics and onto the shelf.
Metals Die Cast: M363 “Wonder Woman”
The M363 “Wonder Woman” figure is … well … “wonderful”! What else can I say? She’s getting her own movie next year and is part of the DC Trinity—one of the oldest and most famous superhero groups which also count Superman and Batman as members. The comic book version of this figure was definitely long overdue.
Though Jada Toys did give us the DC Extended Universe’s version of Wonder Woman earlier this year, there’s nothing like a sculpt from the comics. One of the best things about Metals Die Cast figures is the attention to small accessories. For example, Wonder Woman’s famous golden lasso is a detail that gives this figure that special quality.
