Powerpuff Girls Return To Toy Shelves
By Brian Thomer
The Powerpuff Girls demonstrated their power with a large toy display at the TTPM Holiday Showcase.
Cartoon Network‘s revival of the beloved Powerpuff Girls continues. The super-cute, super-powered trio have already returned in a brand new animated series on the network, as well as a comic book series from IDW Publishing. The girls will now be taking over toy shelves with a variety of product lines as shown at the Toys, Tots, Pets & More Holiday Showcase.
The animation purveyor has joined with Spin Master as their global master toy partner to provide a number of play options for Powerpuff Girls fans. From action figures to plush dolls to board games (from Pressman), Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles are coming back in a big way this holiday season.
Action Figures with Plenty of Action
The majority of the new Powerpuff Girls offerings were connected to the 2-inch line of action figures. There are the basic action dolls featuring each of the three sisters, plus their respective pet. One can then amp things up a bit with the Aura Powerpods assortment. Again, featuring each of the girls, these figures come with translucent aura power vehicles tied to each girl’s personality.

Blossom has a stapler, Buttercup rides a cannon and Bubbles comes with a bunny. The vehicles have a pull back feature to send the vehicles off on their own. Each one comes with both a breakthrough wall and a 2D villain cut-out to send the vehicle crashing through.
The most impressive aspect of the 2-inch line were the playsets. One can get some villain variety with the Mojo Jojo Jewelry Store Heist or The Princess Morbucks Schoolyard Scramble mini action playsets. Each set opens up to reveal a play area and comes with an exclusive figure.
The final playset is the Flip To Action room. On the one side, it is the girls’ bedroom, then by simply flipping the wall over, it becomes The Professor’s lab. All of the decor is on hinges, so they convert from bedroom furniture to lab equipment as the wall turns over.
The items are well designed so that when they settle, it is not starkly noticeable that it was just a bed or giant lab computer on the other side. Also, since the accessories are all attached to the playset itself, it means fewer risk of losing pieces. In addition, the playset comes with 2-inch Bubbles and Professor Utonium figures.
The Girls Are All Grown Up
In addition to the 2-inch line there is a 6-inch deluxe assortment and an Action Eyes series. The 6-inch dolls come with a removable outfit, rooted hair and a hairbrush accessory. The Action Eyes dolls change their expression with a twist of their head. Both sets include Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup dolls.
