Agents Of SHIELD Season 4, Episode 5 Synopsis: “Lockup”

This week on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the team must infiltrate a prison.

Last week on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD‘s “Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire” episode, Quake and Simmons combined forces to track down the Watchdogs. They soon discovered that James (Mr. Explosion Inhuman, or what our Christina calls “off-brand Gambit”) was on the Watchdog’s hit list.

Meanwhile, Coulson and team tracked down Eli Morrow to the prison where he was already serving his sentence. By chance, the team ran into a visiting Robbie Reyes. After a thrilling car chase which ends in Robbie crashing into a cloaked Quinjet, the team takes him into custody.

Since Robbie and SHIELD were looking for the same thing—the Darkhold. The two struck a deal to help each other. Robbie would get information from his uncle Eli while SHIELD listened in, and, in return, Coulson would help free Eli.

As Quake and Jemma went to rescue James, they discovered that he was actually working for the Watchdogs. Loathing all Inhumans, including himself, he promised to help wipe them out and then commit suicide. Luckily, Coulson, the team, and Robbie got to Quake and Jemma just in time.

The final stand-off had Ghost Rider going up against James. Okay, maybe calling it a stand-off is going bit far. There was basically no contest. Ghost Rider won and kept James alive for Coulson.

This week, Coulson will make good on his promise—help free Eli. Now, he never said he was going to go through official channels. So that’s probably why the team will be breaking him out instead of having him “walk” out. Here’s the official synopsis:

"As Robbie Reyes struggles to control The Ghost Rider, S.H.I.E.L.D. infiltrates a high-security prison to unravel the secrets that haunt them all."
