The Flash: Caitlin Snow Steals The Show In “Monster”

The show may be titled The Flash, but in “Monster” it’s Caitlin Snow and her mother, Dr. Carla Tanhauser, who end up stealing the show.

With “Flashpoint” more or less behind us, The Flash has dedicated the last few episodes on Barry Allen’s supporting cast. “Monster” puts the spotlight squarely on #TeamFlash member Caitlin Snow, who’s searching for a cure to her developing cold powers. Caitlin’s search sends her to her mother, Dr. Carla Tanhauser.

More from TV

It’s been fun to see the family members of #TeamFlash. Last season gave us Cisco Ramon’s brother, Dante. Now we get Caitlin’s mom. The family dynamic between TV mothers and daughters always seems to be “icy.” The trope continues here as Caitlin and Dr. Tanhauser don’t have the best relationship, but Dr. Tanhauser agrees to help her daughter.

I don’t understand why Caitlin wouldn’t turn to #TeamFlash for help regarding her powers. She’s afraid of them, which is understandable, but it’s not like they aren’t used to dealing with metahumans. It wouldn’t surprise me if her lack of trust comes back to bite her.

The actor having the most fun on The Flash has to be Tom Cavanagh, who plays Harrison Wells. He’s portrayed about three different versions of the character, with the newest one being a con man from another Earth. At least he’s providing some comic relief along with Cisco.

Viewers learned more about what makes metahuman CSI Julian Albert tick. I’d still put money down that he’s Dr. Alchemy. It’s never a coincidence when a new character debuts at the same time a new villain pops up. The only question is how did Albert gain his powers, and are they linked to “Flashpoint?”
