Funko has been at the game of creating exclusively licensed collectible pop culture figures for some time now. Their latest offering comes in the form of Pint Size Heroes—whimsical blind boxes where the collector only knows the theme, but not the specific figure.
Bam Smack Pow was fortunate enough to be provided with this new line which are under the themes of “DC Batman” and “Marvel Spider-Man.” As we all know, part of the fun of blind boxes, is opening them. It’s basically a taste of Christmas for any time of the year. And speaking of the holidays, these would make great stocking stuffers for the comic fan.
So let’s get started and see which figures are in our secret packets. We’ll start off with everything related to the Dark Knight himself …

Each package is adorned with Batman’s symbol with a preview of possible characters. The material of the package is composed of thick foil, so collectors are unable to tell what they’ll be getting. It’s useless to feel around for any discerning features. You’re not going to be able to really make out a cape or the absence of one, so just grab a package and let the fun begin.

The containers are easy enough to open due to the strategically placed notch on the side. So, for those who are impatient, you can tear right into them. Opening mine, I was pleasantly surprised to find zero repeats.

To tell you the truth, I’m very impressed with the details of each model. They’re definitely fun and I can see how someone will want every single character. These are basically baseball cards for comic nerds.
Going from let to right, we have Batman Beyond, The Joker, Batman, Robin, and Catwoman. For some reason, Batman, and Batman Beyond are scowling. Hey, I’m not complaining, it actually fits their characters. I just wanted to point that out.
Each figure completely captures the essence of their comic book counterparts. Also, to note, for figures that are so top-heavy (yeah, we all see their giant heads), they stand on their own pretty well. Though I didn’t expect much in terms of articulation, their heads do turn, so you can at least have some variation in their poses.
Next up, we move to DC’s rival …

Like the “DC Batman” packages, the foil is thick and collectors are unable to tell what figure they’ll be getting. However, unlike the aforementioned packages, I did feel hidden folded pieces of paper. Hey, no need to guess, let’s just open them up.
Well, each package includes a small manifest or checklist of the possible characters you can collect. I’m sure the odds vary (some may be more rare than others). The back of the checklist contains a nice image, almost akin to a LEGO movie. I wonder if Funko will just give you a large poster version of this image if you buy enough of these Pint Size Heroes.

It would’ve been nice if the “DC Batman” checklist was a separate piece of paper include with the figure. The checklist on those figures are actually on the back of the packaging themselves. Anyways, that’s a minor concern, as I’m sure you’re ready to see the actual figures for “Marvel Spider-Man.”

Like the “DC Batman” figures, each one is nicely detailed. The colors are really bold in this line. From left to right, we have Doctor Octopus, The Lizard, Spider-Man 2099, Black Cat, and Venom. The details on the tentacle arms for the Doctor Octopus figure are really impressive.
All figures also have a rotating head, and the paint job is pretty meticulous for something so small and mass-produced. It’s a fun line that doesn’t sacrifice on quality.

If you’re looking to be surprised, or just want a pick-me-up from time-to-time, go for a Funko Pint Size Hero. They’re a small investment for something that’s so enjoyable. And, like I said, what you’re really purchasing is the anticipation and excitement of opening them.
