Batman/TMNT Adventures Writer Talk Combining Elements Of Both Universes

The fun of Batman/TMNT adventures is seeing the disparate elements of each universe interact

We should consider ourselves lucky enough to have gotten one pretty awesome crossover between the Caped Crusader and the Heroes in a Half-Shell earlier this year, so it was like an early surprise when it was announced yet another crossover, Batman/TMNT Adventures was happening, and soon.

Batman/TMNT Adventures doesn’t have any connection to the previous crossover, but whereas the last one was entirely set in Gotham, this crossover has Bat-villains somehow escaping into Manhattan where the Turtles call home. Batman/TMNT Adventures writer Matthew Manning talked about the elements of each universe he is xcited about having interact with each other:

"I’ve been fortunate enough to work in both these universes before, in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Amazing Adventures and in the early days of my career in the pages of Justice League Adventures. The real thrill in this series for me is to find common ground between the two worlds, and mix and match for the sake of the story. It’s so much fun to see Michelangelo annoy Batman’s enemies with his particular brand of humor, or see Batman struggle against mutant creatures way more powerful than what he’s used to handling in Gotham. Plus, what could be more entertaining than putting the Shredder and the Joker in the same room together? Let’s just say that it doesn’t go well…"

As a huge fan of both these franchises, they can have Batman & the Ninja Turtles team up as often as possible. Make it an on-going series. I really enjoyed the first mini-series and can’t wait to pick up the trade for this  one. Issue #1 of Batman/TMNT Adventures is out now.
