Arkham VR Is A PlayStation VR Top Seller

Arkham VR is one of PlayStation VR’s biggest hits

Playstation VR has been out for just about a month now. Has it been selling well? Probably, Sony has said the sales are on track and while the headset is pretty easy to find, the bundle that includes the headset, camera, move controllers and a game is actually fairly difficult to get a hold of. So what games are people buying for it? Arkham VR is right near the top.

It seems like people really like the idea of being able to step into the virtual crime-fighting boots of the Caped Crusader. According to the PlayStation Blog, Arkham VR is the #2 selling game on PSN for PlayStation VR, only topped by Job Simulator.

This doesn’t account for retail copies, only digital. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a similar result. And more people are buying digital copies these days than ever before, and it might even be more than retail with a high-end device like a VR headset. Arkham VR has gotten pretty solid reviews, and I’m sure the $20 price tag makes it a solid value and showcase piece for the technology even if it’s a very short game.

I’m glad Arkham VR is successful. It does seem like they were just really testing the waters with this game though. If there is some sort of follow-up, I would hope it’s a full game that really allows you to explore being the Dark Knight for many hours, both using crime-solving skills and fighting the criminal underworld. When you can offer an experience like that and it works, that is when I will probably really buy in on VR. My guess is that won’t really happen until at least the next iteration of this hardware though…
