Could Disney Buying Netflix Affect Season 3 Of Young Justice?

A Disney buyout of Netflix could have a huge impact on the future of Young Justice

There’s a very distinct possibility that Disney is going to acquire Netflix in the near future as part of their ongoing buyout of any and all popular media. In a lot of ways this is a good thing. It would obviously cement  the relationship between Netflix and Marvel even more, probably allowing for even more Marvel content on the service in addition to a place you can stream most if not all of Disney’s vast media library from past decades.

But it could also spell trouble for DC fans of Netflix depending on how Disney would decide to do business if they do indeed purchase the world’s top streaming service. Anything not owned by Disney might just disappear from the service. That may be especially true with Netflix pushing original content more than ever. Those CW shows that Netflix just landed a huge deal for full seasons to appear like a week after they end would probably still go on because there’s a contract, but there might not even be talk of renewing that contract whenever it is up. Any DC movies might just disappear from the service entirely as well.

So what could this mean for the future of Young Justice? The show was recently announced to be brought back from the TV cancellation graveyard for a third season. A network or service has not been announced for the premiere yet, but most would assume Netflix would be the top choice. It’s how people indicated that they really wanted a third season of the show be constantly watching and binging the two seasons on the service along with campaigns on social platforms like Twitter.

Could Young Justice or any DC-based show even be allowed to be develop on a Disney-owned service? Would ATT/Time Warner allow that to happen in the first place? It seems unlikely unless Disney is very hands off in terms of what content besides stuff they own appears on the service.

Granted, there are plenty of viable options for Young Justice to continue if Netflix is not an option. Hulu,The CW (or even CW seed), CBS All Access, even Crackle (oh god not Crackle). But the top streaming service in the world would probably be the preferred choice of both the people behind Young Justice and the fans who helped bring it back. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
