Harley Quinn Was Everyone’s Psychiatrist

Harley Quinn apparently counseled several super-heroes in addition to The Joker…

It’s well-known by now that before Harley Quinn became the psychopathic paramour of The Joker, she was an aspiring psychiatrist. That’s how she met The Joker. Doctor Harleen Qunizel came into Arkham thinking she could figure out what makes the Joker tick. Instead, the Joker manipulated her into falling for him and she became Harley Quinn.

But the Joker wasn’t the only noteworthy patient of Mrs. Quinzel, according to recent events in Rebirth. The following panel from Red Hood & The Outlaws suggests that Red Hood was a patient of Quinzel’s for a time in Arkham Asylum. Whether or not that fits with a timeline of events is debatable. Harley Quinn didn’t exist as a character until long after the Joker killed Jason Todd (who came back from the dead and became the vigilante Red Hood). But the Red Hood didn’t appear until 2005. Check out the panel from Red Hood and the Outlaws below:

But that’s not all. According to issue #3 of Trinity, when Harley Quinn was still Harleen Quinzel she had one very special patient:

Wait, how is she also counseling a young Bruce Wayne? The Red Hood stuff is a stretch, but somewhat plausible. Bruce Wayne as a kid is not. She was a young woman when she met Joker, there is literally no way she also counseled Bruce Wayne years earlier.

Next: Dark Knight IV & V To Be Announced Soon?

So, this could be the result of some awful and outright lazy retconning, but I have another theory. Since Rebirth, it’s been revealed that someone (most likely Dr. Manhattan) has been messing with the continuity of the DC Universe. Who knows what he did or what effect that has had? Of course than you can use that to excuse any number of things. Hopefully they don’t abuse that aspect of the Rebirth universe…
