Catwoman Probably Not In Affleck’s Batman Movie

Selina Kyle probably won’t be showing up in the solo Batman film

There is a Batman movie being made for the DCEU. It is being co-written by head of DC Films Geoff Johns and Batman himself, Ben Affleck. Affleck will also be directing the movie. Joe Manganiello is in the film as Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons & J.K. . Simmons will be reprising their roles as Alfred & Commissioner James Gordon.

But who else is in the movie? Batman has a whole rich city of characters unto himself, both heroes, villains and in-between. We know that none of the Al Ghul clan (i.e. Ra’s, Talia, but that doesn’t necessarily rule out Damian) will be in the movie, but there’s still a wealth of characters.

Well, one more classic long-running character might be ruled out. Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman is one of Batman’s oldest foes, but also one of his longest on again off again love interests. The Bat & the Cat is a classic epic tale of opposites attracting and feeling drawn to each other. So for the Caped Crusader’s solo debut in the DCEU, you’d think Mrs. Kyle might make an appearance in the movie, right?

Well most likely not. This comes from actress Sienna Miller, who is one of Affleck’s co-stars in the mob drama Live By Night. She said that she would really love to play Catwoman, but the character isn’t even in the script. While this is something that could change even after filming starts, it would indicate there are no plans for Catwoman to be in the Batman movie.

So no Ra’s, no Talia, No Catwoman, and maybe no Robin (Affleck has been dodgy about answering that one). It’s not that a Batman movie can’t work without these characters, but this is supposed to be truer to the comics than any previous live action film, and as such it should be swimming with characters from the city of Gotham. Hopefully we’ll have at least a couple movies to see them all. The solo Batman film is set to start production sometime next year.
