Suicide Squad: Joker’s Missing Scenes
This video gives evidence for many Joker scenes that are missing from both versions of Suicide Squad
For all his months of really getting into the character and basically scaring the hell out of the cast, Jared Leto as the Joker was barely in the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad. I mean his screen time amounts to less than ten minutes of the film.
Leto has gone on record saying that he filmed enough scenes to fill an entire movie. And it’s incredibly evident that a lot of stuff was left out of Suicide Squad in general. You can even tell this from the trailers, which show a ton of footage, much of it involving Joker, that is nowhere to be found in the film.
There were hopes that at least a good chunk of that footage would be restored in the extended cut that was recently release on digital HD, but of 11 minutes of added footage, only about 2 of that was new Joker footage that basically was one extra Harley Quinn flashback scene.
So what scenes featuring the Joker are missing from either edition of Suicide Squad? We may never get a full answer, but based on TV spots, behind the scenes and b-roll footage, someone has put together a pretty compelling video of all the scenes of the Joker that weren’t in either the theatrical release or the extended cut of Suicide Squad. Check it out below:

Would a meatier role for the Joker made the movie any better? It’s really hard to say, he’s still not integral to the plot, he’s a b-story in the movie. At best, a lot of people have said Leto wasn’t really in the movie enough to judge his performance very well, so this might’ve given us a better idea of how well he pulled off being the clown prince of crime. Suicide Squad: The Extended Cut is on Digital HD now and will be on Blu-Ray and DVD December 13th.
