Batman Painting Among Many Others Stolen In Belfast Art Raid

Batman painting is part of a $60,000 collection stolen from a Belfast Art Gallery

The real Batman could have probably foiled these dastardly thieves, but alas it was only a painting. Some daring thieves in Belfast managed to steal anywhere between 80-100 pieces of artwork from a gallery in Belfast, Ireland. One painting was of the Dark Knight (you can see it in the featured pic), and it was valued at over $3,000. Though that’s actually at the low end, other pieces stolen had an estimated worth of up to $5,000.

The pieces are all work by artist Terry Bradley. Bradly’s wife said her husband is “devastated” by the theft.

"Terry puts his heart and soul into his work. They’re a moment in time. The original pieces cannot be replaced. Some of the original drawings have been ordered by people for Christmas – they’re all gone. So much stuff has been paid off by customers and we’re going to work to replace what we can. Terry is completely floored by what’s happened."

Mrs. Bradley also thinks whomever stole the paintings were not amateurs:

"We think someone had hidden in the gallery and opened the back door. I was in last night with my daughter at about 21:30. We hope somebody wasn’t in there with us. It would have taken a long time. These are big and heavy pieces – I can only lift one picture at a time. My sister opened at 10 o’clock this morning and it was all gone."

But she also says they are just going back to work and is thankful no one was hurt, but hope a fan sees the artwork and tells the authorities:

"We’re going straight back to work. Nobody was hurt. Hopefully we have enough time before Christmas to replace what can be replaced. My hope is a fan of Terry will see this art being passed off. I know they’ll be outraged when they hear this has happened. If someone sees them, they will know what they are and hopefully come forward with information so we can get them back."

Yeah, there’s no way around it, it sucks that this guy put so much work into something he’s obviously really passionate about and makes income from, only to have it stolen by some assholes. Hopefully he’ll get those pieces returned.
