Check out our Top 5 Moments from episode 10 of Season 3 of Gotham, Time Bomb!

Time Bomb was one electrifying episode of Gotham! Let’s give everyone a hand! Especially Tabitha, she literally needs one! Anyways, Time Bomb seemed to really set in motion some big things happening as soon as next week’s episode, when a lot of these story threads will come to a head as it’s Gotham’s mid-season finale. Check out what we thought the top 5 moments from “Time Bomb” were:

GOTHAM: Guest star James Carpinello in the “Mad City: Time Bomb” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Nov. 21 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Cr: FOX.

1. Mario Falcone Is The Target

Within the opening minutes of the episode, Carmine Falcone’s car is blown up in what appears to be an attempt on his life. It was at a dinner with his son Mario and Mario’s fiancé Leslie Thompkins. It’s pretty clear Carmine is the target, right? I mean he’s one of those rare mob bosses who lived long enough to retire, he must have a list of enemies who want him violently dead several miles long. It certainly couldn’t be Leslie or his golden boy son who’s a respected surgeon, right?

Well turns out after a little investigating, it actually is Mario the assassins are after. And when the car bomb fails to kill anyone but the poor valet who was inside, they resort to a more direct approach, going after him with assassins on motorcycles carrying swords and attacking him at a jewelry store (has no one heard of a sniper rifle?). Now it’s plausible that the assassins are just going after Mario to hurt Carmine, but we find out that’s not the case after Mario confronts/kills one of the assassins. Before Mario kills him, he asks why they are going after him, and the assassin tells him “you know why”. We don’t get the full answer, but it’s super obvious that they are targeting Mario Falcone because of something he did, and it must have been something pretty bad…

2. “They Are Called The Court Of Owls”

I mean, we knew they were the Court Of Owls pretty much since they first appeared last season. But in the third season of Gotham they are finally given their proper name, “The Court Of Owls”. And it’s Bruce who learns it thanks to the “Whisper Gang”, a bunch of smugglers who have been at war with the Court of Owls. And losing bad, but they have one advantage that can turn the tide.

It turns out that mysterious key is connected to the Court of Owls. It is one of a pair that holds the secret to destroying them. Bruce Wayne had stopped investigating the court because he felt he had no way to fight them with any chance of success. That key represents this chance.

And Bruce has some new allies in this fight. Or at least he did. Later in the episode Talon wipes out the members of the Whisper Gang that Bruce met with including their leader. Will Bruce still be able to make use of the key? And what does the key give him access to? Will that even be answered in next week’s mid-season finale or will we have to wait several months to find out? I’m betting the latter.

3. Carmine Falcone Meets With Katherine

It turns out Falcone is connected to the Court of Owls. He’s apparently had an somewhat uneasy truth with them for years, if not decades. Both benefitted from that, so they mostly stayed out of each other’s way.
But Carmine Falcone’s son Mario is now being targeted for assassination, and he thinks the Court of Owls is behind it. He sets up a meeting with Catherine to try and have the assasination called off. It turns out the Court of Owls isn’t behind it though.
We learn a couple of things here. One, though Carmine Falcone is a powerful man, even he ultimately backs down from the Court of Owls. They might know who is behind these attempts on Mario’s life, but they aren’t saying, and they certainly aren’t telling Carmine why this happening. And he just has to deal with that.
Also, that means theres another party that’s after Mario Falcone. We don’t know who they are or why they are after him. Just that they are well-funded, if not very efficient (C’mon, three miserably failed attempts?). Hopefully of all the things going on in Gotham right now, this gets wrapped up by the end of next episode. Given what happens at the end, I can’t see it dragging out beyond that.

4. Tabitha Loses A Hand

It’s been established early on that Butch really cares for Tabitha Galavan. He hangs around like a lovesick puppy at the Sirens nightclub. He agrees to basically be framed for attempting to murder Penguin after Nygma is holding her hostage. He is obviously deeply devoted to her.

Does Tabitha feel the same? It’s fairly obvious she cares about Butch, she helps him escape custody and goes on the run with him. But a moment of truth happens when she & Butch are captured by Edward Nygma. Nygma mistakenly believes that Butch killed Isabella, so despite Butch’s insistence that he has no idea what Ed is even talking about, Ed is determined to work through his grief. By torturing both of them and ultimately killing Butch.

Ultimately though, Ed is not the one who decides. In a very Saw-like fashion, he sets a test. He puts Tabitha’s hand in a mini guillotine and it’s seconds away from being chopped off. She can stop it with a press of the button, but that button press will kill Butch. Butch tells Tabitha how happy he’s ben with her and though she was initially not ready to lose a hand, she realizes she does love Butch and drops the switch, getting her hand cut off in grisly fashion

Butch “confesses” and it makes Edward realize Butch didn’t kill Isabella because all the details are wrong. But of course Tabitha’s hand is already cut off. Luckily Barbara arrives not quite in time to save Tabitha’s hand from getting cut off but possibly in time to save it.

Where does Ed go from here? And what will Barbara do with her knowledge that Oswald is in love with Ed? I bet a major power play is going to happen.

5. Mario Is Infected

We know Mario has a bit of a rage problem. He’s punched Gordon without proper provocation, but Gordon let it go for Leslie. He beat an assassin to near death, but hey the guy was trying to kill him. Those seemed pretty excusable relatively speaking Not caused by any kind of virus slowly working its way through his system.
But it isn’t revealed until the very end of the episode that Mario Falcone is infected with the same rage virus from Alice Tetch’s blood that ultimately turned former GCPD Captain Nathaniel Barnes into The Executioner. Upon seeing Lee leave Gordon’s apartment after she slept him to “properly say goodbye”, he goes full rage monster, killing a couple of thugs who happen upon him in a fit of jealousy.

How did Mario get infected? How long has he been infected? Is this tied to the people trying to assinate him? Is it the start of a city-wide epidemic? And what does that mean for the wedding? My guess is Leslie Thompkins won’t be joining the Falcone family anytime soon.

And there are our 5 standout moments for the “Time Bomb” episode of Gotham. Just one episode left until the lengthy mid-season break. What craziness will go down in Gotham this Monday? Better tune into Fox to find out!
