Gotham Ep. 311 Synopsis: "Mad City: Beware the Green-Eyed Monster"

This week on Gotham, the mid-season finale for “Mad City” promises some startling new developments for everything that’s been building up since the beginning of Season 3.

On Gotham‘s “Mad City: Time Bomb” episode last week, Carmine Falcone sought Jim Gordon’s assistance after an attempt on his life. Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle pushed forward in their investigation into the key. And Edward Nygma carried out his plans for Butch Gilzean and Tabitha Galavan.

A car bomb at the the start of the episode prompted Carmine to ask Jim for help. Jim soon discovers that the target isn’t Carmine, but Mario Falcone. A larger conspiracy is revealed when Carmine is shown meeting with Kathryn, a lieutenant for the Court of Owls—the organization targeting Mario. As for Mario, he’s shown to be exhibiting signs of Alice Tetch’s infection.

Ed, going off of his own false deduction of who murdered Isabella, captures Butch and Tabitha. He creates a contraption which forces Tabitha to choose between one of her limbs or Butch’s life. In a final fit of frustration, Butch’s words confirm to Ed that he was blaming the wrong people. However, it’s too late because Tabitha grew a soft spot for Butch and sacrifices her hand to save his life.

Ivy Pepper uses her “skills” to manipulate Alfred into allowing her to leave Wayne Manor. She’s quickly kidnapped and held for ransom—her life for the key. When Bruce, Selina, and Alfred go to make the exchange, they discover that the group, The Whisper Gang, is working against the Court of Owls. The two sides strike a deal to work together. However, the leader and another member of The Whisper Gang are soon killed by a Talon.

This week’s mid-season finale will have Jim confronting Mario, Ed finally getting the truth about Isabella’s death, and Bruce and Selina executing their plan to find a way to destroy the Court of Owls. Here’s the official synopsis:
