A DC Streaming Service?
We may be getting a streaming service based on DC properties in the near future
Would you pay for a streaming service based around DC properties? You may get the chance depending on how you interpret some recent comments from Warner Bros. Ceo Kevin Tsujihara.
At the Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, Tsujihara revealed the plans going forward are for the company to “double down” on it’s known properties such as Harry Potter, Lego and of course that includes DC Comics.
"What is becoming more and more important is really these big franchises. If you look at what’s happening with the quality of the television product, the movies that are breaking through are the big franchises."
Furthermore, while not confirming anything exactly, Tsujihara said there were plans for a “direct-to-consumer” DC Comics project. That would indicate a streaming service of some type one would assume. Tsujihara says the product is something they have been “working on that quite feverishly over the last 12 months.”

So what would a streaming service based solely around DC properties look like? One would assume it would have all the DC movies made over the decades, that easy because Warner Bros. owns all that. It would actually be great to have a service where I could watch older animated movies, like anything before this New 52-ish continuity that’s going on now.
But what about TV shows? Would we get any of the Arrowverse or Gotham? Well, shows of the Arrowverse like Flash, Arrow, Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl might be fine. The CW is part-owned by Warner Bros. so the shows shouldn’t have much problem appearing. Gotham is owned by Fox so that might be a little trickier. Same goes for older cartoons or shows on other networks or even upcoming shows like Powerless on NBC.
A streaming service could also easily be the place to debut some original content. Like maybe even a third season of Young Justice? A streaming service based wholly around DC Comics properties could be great depending on how much content they can really get their hands on. Would you pay for such a service?
