Batman Is A Fandom 250 Nominee

Batman has been nominated for the FanSided Fandom 250.

The FanSided Fandom 250 is a ranking of the top 250 fandoms out there. The people, places, things, icons, etc. with the best and most passionate fanbases. So of course it’s no surprise that Batman has been named as one of the nominees in the Fandom 250.

Batman is a comic book icon, but he’s more than that, and it’s shown in some of his most passionate fans. People dress up as Batman for Halloween, conventions, and movie premieres sure, but they also dress up like Batman for children’s hospitals and charity events. Even to scare away psychotic clowns.

Batman has a worldwide presence that is bigger than DC comics. Like DC Comics could die and take probably about 99% of the roster with it, but Batman would survive. He’s an indelible worldwide icon that crosses many barriers of race, religion and creed. And while nobody could actually be Superman, at least in theory anybody could be Batman. That helps people not just want to look like the Caped Crusader, but actually want to be more like him. Batman is a figure that’s even inspired an acclaimed documentary by someone of his fandom. And Batman as a fandom is only growing with his 75+ years of existence. It feels like he simply has nowhere to go but up.

No doubt the FanSided’s Fandom 250 contains lots of worthy fandoms. But if you are going for one where the fanbase is long-lasting, inspired to do better and in general a great community, the fandom of Batman should be right at the top of the list.
