Civil War Journal – Week Twenty-Six: The Hulk We Left Behind

facebooktwitterreddit

Hulk is the only showing from Civil War II this week, but Amadeus finally gets a little closure with Hawkeye about Bruce Banner’s death.

Welcome back to Civil War Journal, Bam Smack Pow’s weekly recap column of all things Civil War II. In a quiet week, we check in with Bruce Banner’s legacy and his killer. Closure for everyone!

Totally Awesome Hulk #12

What happened? Amadeus Cho defeats the monster he and Black Panther hunted. Unfortunately, his sister sees that he can’t seem to learn to swallow his pride or take responsibility for his emotions. So she leaves. Heartbroken, Hulk finally tracks Hawkeye to a Kansas diner. And instead of killing the man who shot his mentor, Amadeus cries with him. They bond over the sad turn of events and start to grow up a little.

Was it good? Yes. I’m not sure how the monster fight got us to the last scene. But the last scene was a beautiful piece of closure.

Recommendation: If you’re a Hulk fan, you’re already reading this, and it will satisfy. No one else really needs to pick this one up.
