Margot Robbie Nominated For Critics’ Choice Awards

Margot Robbie has been nominated for Best Actress In An Action Movie for her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad was a hit at the box office, but not so much with critics. Though even the critics who hated the film seemed to nearly universally agree that Margot Robbie was terrific as the first live-action big screen version of Harley Quinn in the movie. That was also reflected in the Critics’ Choice Awards Nominations, which were released today.

Margot Robbie was not the only woman in a DC movie nominated, in fact she’s up against Gal Godot’s performance as Wonder Woman in the Best Actress In An Action Movie Category along with Tilda Swinton as “The Ancient One” from Doctor Strange and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow from Captain America: Civil War. Given that Robbie’s role was much meatier than any of the other performances on this list and required such a different type of role, I’d say she has a very good chance of winning this category.

Robbie and Godot are the only actors’ from a DC movie nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award. Neither Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, or any of the other actors in those movies are nominated. I think we can agree Ben Affleck should’ve probably gotten nominated for Best Actor in an Action Movie. Certainly over best bud Matt Damon in yet another Jason Bourne film no one cared about…

The 22nd annual Critics’ Choice Awards will announce the actual winners on December 11th. It can be a pre-cursor to bigger awards shows such as the Golden Globes and of course the Oscars, but I don’t think you’ll see Margot Robbie or Gal Godot nominated for either of those shows.
