Preview: Justice League/Power Rangers #1

Batman is fighting some “enhanced beings” in this preview for the epic Justice League/Power Rangers crossover event

The Justice League has fought countless powerful beings from different galaxies and dimensions, but even all that experience might not prepare them to fight Lord Zedd in the DC Comics and Boom Studios team up event of early 2017, Justice League Power Rangers.

Of course the Justice League and  the Power Rangers will unite to fight a common threat eventually, there isn’t a “vs” in the title of the comics. But things seem to be starting off on very much the wrong foot as this preview panel shows Batman taking on most of the rangers and not doing so well against “enhanced beings”. I don’t know if the Power Rangers have ever been considered enhanced in terms of augmented physical skills, but this clearly establishes that they get a boost beyond some cool weapons and animal-shaped robots to control. However, there is one member of the rangers who is not fighting Batman, and that’s Zack. He’s with Superman, and that panel possibly lends a whole layer to why the rest of the rangers might be fighting Batman:

Based on that last panel, I’m going to guess the other rangers were kidnapped and are being mind-controlled. Writer Tom Taylor & artist Steven Byrne confirmed that Lord Zedd would be teaming up with DC villain, but wouldn’t reveal who. If it’s someone who has tangled with the Justice League. My first thought would be Darkseid, but he’s currently a newborn baby in Rebirth continuity, so that seems unlikely unless this is just completely disconnected from anything current. Find out when Justice League/Power Rangers #1 comes out January 11th.
