Real Batman Grappling Gun From The Hacksmith
This Batman grappling gun works mostly like the one in the movies
Batman has always had a grappling hook. That’s one of his trademark tools, making it easier to get around the rooftops of Gotham. But it wasn’t really until Tim Burton’s Batman film in 1989 that the Caped Crusader used the grappling gun most fans know of now. Obviously the gun allows for quicker grapples and more versatility. But could one be made in real life that works like in the movies? According to YouTube user, The Hacksmith, definitely!
The Hacksmith actually has a habit of making things from the comic book movies, anime and more a reality. He’s made reloadable swords, featured in the anime series Attack of The Titans. He made an Iron Man rocket launcher. One of his most recent projects was a grappling gun just like the one the Dark Knight uses. You can see how he made it in the video below:
Well, it sure looks like a real grappling gun. But how well does it actually work in practice? Pretty well actually. While it’s not ziplining across rooftops, the Hacksmith does use the grappling gun to successfully zipline from one building to another in the video below:

That’s pretty impressive, but Batman’s grappling gun is more versatile than that. What about being able to go vertical as well as horizontal? Well, the Hacksmith is working on an 8-horsepower “electric ascension device” that will let you just glide away up the side of a building. I really can’t wait to see that video!
Of course Batman is more than just his tools, but if we can make things like functioning grappling guns, maybe there will be an actual Batman running around one of these. Of course that might mean an actual Joker too, so maybe we are better off not having that happen…
