Deadshot Solo Movie In Development?
Warner Bros. is looking into a movie featuring DC’s deadliest assassin, Deadshot
Margot Robbie won tons of praise for her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad (and a Critics Choice Award!) and rightfully so. But also extremely worthy of praise (and he did get plenty) was Will Smith’s performance as the man who never misses a shot, the assassin Deadshot. He was easily the emotional heart of the film, and Smith carried it well, arguably giving his best performance in years.
Now, along with a Harley Quinn movie called Gotham City Sirens, Warner Bros. is reportedly also looking into a spin-off starring Deadshot. This is literally all we know at this point and since it’s only being “looked into”, that’s a far cry for a movie definitely happening. But given recent statements from Warner Bros. execs that the studio wants to double down on its more well-known franchises such as DC properties, they are probably pretty committed to making a Deadshot film happen given that Smith’s performance was one of the more well-received aspects of Suicide Squad.

Such a movie is so early along, that all we know is Will Smith would most likely be starring in such a film. But is that a guarantee? Smith passed on Independence Day: Resurgence to film Suicide Squad because he wanted to try something new. But Smith is hardly adverse to sequels, he did two Men in Black sequels and is currently working on a third Bad Boys movie. Deadshot has a pretty rich comic book history to mine for stories, hopefully they won’t be turning him into a full-fledged hero though, that’s not who he is. He’s a scumbag who kills people for money and might occasionally do the right thing for the sake of his daughter. A solo movie should reflect that nature.
