Ben Affleck says everything is coming together on the solo Batman movie and it should start shooting in Mid-2017

Last we heard (just yesterday in fact!), Ben Affleck was emphasizing not rushing the Batman solo movie he is not just starring in, but co-writing and directing. He wanted to wait until it was really ready. And with Warner Bros. pushing the Justice League sequel back in order to make room for Batman on the calendar, that seemed to indicate that we wouldn’t see the Dark Knight’s solo DCEU adventure until sometime in 2019, as that was when the Justice League sequel was slated to release.

Well, what a difference a day makes! In a recent interview with Variety (mostly about his new gangster flick, Live By Night), Affleck indicated that the Batman movie was really coming together in order to start shooting in the Spring of 2017:

"We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.I respect all of those [Batman] movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me."

Shooting in the Spring of next year would make one think they’ll be releasing the movie in 2018. Of course there’s always the chances of things like script re-writes and re-shoots pushing the movie further back. My guess is Warner Bros. want the Batman movie out asap, so if it can make 2018 they’ll make it work, and if not, they can just put it out in 2019 as early as possible….
