The Reason It’s Great
“Married” was the Season 2 premiere of the critically-acclaimed The Incredible Hulk. Along with a strong script, this two-hour episode had strong performances from the late Bill Bixby and Mariette Hartley.
Dr. David Banner believes that hypnosis may be a means to control the creature within him. He seeks out psychiatrist Dr. Caroline Fields to help him. When he learns that she has a terminal illness, he offers to treat her for her assistance. As the two work together, they find themselves falling in love.
Comic books aren’t always known for their strong drama element. This episode proved otherwise and garnered Mariette Hartely, who played Dr. Caroline Fields, an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series—a first for a science-fiction series.
