The Reason It’s Great

Many would find it strange that a video game would be part of a superhero stories ranking. However, in today’s world, video games are produced much like movies—having their own director, writers, and visual effects artists.

In an alternate universe, the Joker uses a nuclear bomb to kill millions in Metropolis and tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and their unborn child. In a fit of rage, Superman does the unthinkable and kills the Joker. Soon, to prevent this situation from ever happening again, the Man of Steel establishes a fascist new world order, instilling himself as the leader.

Existing superheroes are divided: some side with Superman; others side with Batman, who opposes Superman and wants to remove him from power. Five years into this war, the main universe’s superheroes are brought into this universe, with the hopes of of defeating Superman and his government.

The gameplay itself has recieved critical and fan acclaim. However, the most impressive aspect of this video game is how each fight scene integrates with a compelling story. The tight plot and meaningful character interactions serve as a standalone film which is entertaining all by itself.
