Friends Theme Fits Gotham All Too Well

Edward and Oswald are definitely the Ross & Rachel of Gotham

Friends is one of the most popular shows of all time. With one of the most popular theme songs/openings of all time. To the point where nearly every show’s opening has been redone in the style of Friends at some point. You wouldn’t think a dark and crazy show like Gotham would fit with the opening of a popular 90s sitcom. But somebody went ahead and did it, and it works exceedingly well.

The most surprising aspect of this video might be just how well the themes fit some of the characters. Jim Gordon sure as hell seems constantly stuck in second gear. Edward Nygma’s love life sure as hell is DOA (but then again you can say that about just about everybody’s love life in Gotham). I also don’t think anybody had ANY idea life was gonna be this way. Check out the video below:

I will say that while I think the theme fits the show really well, it could be edited a little better. Like it doesn’t really promote the idea of no matter how bad things are, your friends will be there for you, which is the crux of the song. Especially at the end there, where it’s just a bunch of random Arkham Asylum inmates that aren’t part of the main cast. I’m not saying Gotham has lots of comedic moments (or young 20-somethings dancing around a fountain for that matter), but it does have plenty of scenes of people who are close backing each other when it counts, so you could’ve included plenty of that and really nailed the theme of the song. Look for more wacky adventures of Jim Gordon and co when Gotham returns in January on Fox!
