When Is Injustice 2 Likely To Come Out?

Injustice 2, the sequel to the hit DC fighting game, is coming out sometime this year. But we don’t really know when. Or do we?

Yesterday, the Xbox One storefront was indicating that Mass Effect: Andromeda was coming out on March 31st and Injustice 2 was coming out March 28th. This was quickly reported on various websites, but the store page was quickly updated for both games to just say “coming soon”. NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon even came out on Twitter to shoot down any truth to the idea that we’d be seeing the DC brawler on March 28th:

But at least for Mass Effect: Andromeda, the date wasn’t very far off. It was just announced earlier today that the game is coming out March 21st, which is even earlier than the Xbox digital storefront implied. So that does mean anything about the release date for Injustice 2?

I certainly don’t think it means the game is coming out even earlier than March 28th. But it could easily be that it will come out within a couple weeks of that. Specifically in mid-April. Why is that? Well, really all you have to do is look at NetherRealm’s history with games. Mortal Kombat 9 & 10 and the first Injustice game. Every single one of those games released sometime in April. So based on that, it’s pretty easy to assume we’ll be seeing their newest game this April as well.

Of course, this is just speculation, but given the studio’s history it seems pretty likely. And given that it might be an April release, could we be seeing this game on the new Nintendo Switch considering the release is very close? The first Injustice came out on nearly every platform including Wii U, so I wouldn’t be surprised. And I’d love to get that version. Hopefully we’ll find more out about Injustice 2 soon regardless.
