Ben Affleck: Stop Asking About The Goddamn Batman

Ben Affleck has had enough with being asked about the Batman movie for awhile

Ben Affleck is Batman. Ben Affleck is also supposedly making a movie about Batman. At least that’s the plan. He’s co-writing a script with DC Films head Geoff Johns, he’s set to star and direct. He even has a villain cast with Joe Manganiello as the assassin Deathstroke. He also gets asked about the Batman movie just about every day and is getting a little tired of it. He compared it to his most recent film, Live By Night, which took him about two years to make, but obviously didn’t come with the pressure and anticipation of making a film about the Caped Crusader:

"Oh my god, it’s such a pain in the ass. It’s like every time I mention Batman, it gets this huge clickbait. When I was doing this movie, it took me two years to get it together, but nobody ever asked me, ‘Where’s Live By Night?’ You know? They ask me ‘Batman, Batman, Batman.’”Batman’s coming along; It’s going to be great. We’re going to make something really special. We’re going to take the time to make it right. We’re going to do it good."

So the good news is I believe this is just Ben Affleck reaffirming his commitment to making one hell of a Batman film. The slightly bad news is that he will take his sweet time with it, possibly even going on a media blackout after Justice League, and it could not be done in time to make a release date in 2018. It would again make sense with Warner Bros. pushing back the Justice League sequel, which was originally set for 2019. That way they are ready for whenever the movie is going to come out. We might learn more at say San Diego Comic Con, but I don’t expect to hear anything concrete on the Batman movie out of Ben Affleck’s mouth until at least around that time.
