Miguel Ferrer has passed away from cancer at the age of 61

Miguel Ferrer may not be a name you’re wholly familiar with, but odds are you’ve heard his voice or seen his face many times. Ferrer is an accomplished veteran character actor, with his breakout role in the first Robocop film 30 years ago in 1987. He was on Twin Peaks, Crossing Jordan, and most recently the hit CBS show NCIS: Los Angeles. Sadly Miguel Ferrer has passed away from cancer at the age of 61.

But the reason this should matter to comic book fans is Ferrer also has a pretty lengthy history with comic book roles. He was the voice of Aquaman & Weather Wizard in the Superman Animated Series, Sinestro in The Batman animated series, Martian Manhunter in Justice League: The New Frontier, Silvermane in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, Vandal Savage in Young Justice, and had just recently wrapped a role a the voice of Deathstroke in the upcoming animated film Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill released as statement on Ferrer’s passing:

"Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart.  Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family.  He will be greatly missed."

Miguel Ferrer is definitely a guy who when you think about it, was in a ton of stuff you have seen and heard. He was clearly an incredibly talented and hard-working guy whose presence on TV and movies will be sorely missed. Our condolences go out the to family of Miguel Ferrer. One of his final roles was as Deathstroke in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, which will be out later this year.
