Injustice 2’s prequel comic series will be an ongoing digital first series

Injustice 2 will be out in just a few months, but how did things get to where they are in the game now? There’s been an Injustice comic going for quite awhile now, but there will also be a comic serving as a prequel to Injustice 2 that covers a period of time shortly before the events of the game.

The Injustice 2 comic will be a digital first comic, appearing on digital storefronts like Comixology every Tuesday starting April 11th. There will be a physical version which will be in stores in May closer to the release of the game and will ship twice monthly.

The writer on the series will be Tom Taylor, who worked on the original Injustice comic, Superior Iron Man and a ton of Star Wars comics when they were still published by Dark Horse. Art will be done by Bruno Redondo, who did art for the first Injustice series as well. Taylor released a statement about working with Redondo on the series:

"I am so excited to continue working with Bruno Redondo. He’s a good friend and an incredible talent. “I think Bruno ‘gets’ me as well as any artist ever has. We compliment each other well, and Bruno lifts Injustice up with every stroke of his pen. As a former theatre director and performer, my main focus is always on how well our characters ‘act’ on the page. Bruno brings so much emotion to the page, nailing the low points and the high. His characters breathe, and he’s just as comfortable delivering big action and shocks as he is with my ridiculous humor."

The Injustice 2 prequel comic will focus on Batman’s efforts to rebuild after defeating Superman in the first game. It’s meant to fill in the gaps between the first two games. To my knowledge, the original Injustice comic will be ongoing as well. I’M SURE THAT WON’T CONFUSE ANYBODY. Injustice 2 is due out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 & mobile platforms May 16th.
