Supergirl Season 2, Episode 9 Synopsis: “Supergirl Lives”

Supergirl returns this week with its post-winter hiatus premiere episode.

Before Supergirl went on its long break, Kara fought against CADMUS’s bid to release a biological weapon, and against aliens in another universe in the “Invasion” crossover event. Okay, now that I think about it, the Girl of Steel did deserve that vacation time.

Now, she’s back, and it’s even more fitting that the first episode after the winter break is directed by DC fanboy Kevin Smith. It also stars his daughter—Harley Quinn Smith. Yes, he’s such a DC fan that his daughter is named after a character.

Well, enough of that, let’s get going on what we would love to see for the rest of the season. In “Medusa,” Mon-El shared a kiss with Kara. Granted, Mon-El was on his death bed, but the truth usually comes out before you’re about to take the eternal sleep. After he’s cured, Kara asks him about their passionate lip-lock. However, he denies it. Audiences definitely aren’t buying that, and they’d love to ship #Monara.

In the same episode, Lena Luthor proved that she was nothing like her family—doing the ole double-switcheroo on her mother. It would be a great formula change for a Luthor to be working with the good guys. It’s not even that far-fetched of a wish. Winn’s dad is baddie Toyman, yet the lovable IT nerd, now tech support at the DEO, has proven that the apple really does fall far, far, far from the tree.

Let’s hope a few of our wishlist items will be granted as late Christmas presents when the season starts up again. Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode:

“Supergirl Lives”

"KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos."
