Arrow Season 5, Episode 11 Synopsis: “Second Chances”
By Steve Lam
This week on Arrow, Oliver enlists the help of Talia al Ghul to take down Kovar.
Arrow continued Oliver’s tortured storyline with the mid-season premiere episode “Who Are You?” However, it wasn’t just our main hero who was hurtin’, a couple of team members were also still reeling from the effects of the mid-season finale. Felicity was still suffering from the loss of Billy, and Curtis was feeling defeated after sacrificing everything in his life to become a hero.

The pain was alleviated just a bit when Laurel Lance nonchalantly paid a visit to Oliver during the final scene of the mid-season finale. Um, isn’t she dead? Yes, she is … or was. That’s why Oliver was so shocked. So what was the explanation for her miraculous return? The Waverider and the Legends. When in doubt, time-travel will always be used as the solution.
Except that wasn’t the truth. As if this wasn’t heavily speculated already, it turns out that this Laurel is Earth-2’s Black Siren who, with the help of Prometheus, escaped Team Flash’s holding cell. After her little revelation, she ends up being in Team Arrow’s cell. But she eventually escapes … or is allowed to escape in order to track her to the big bad.
Meanwhile, John Diggle was in major trouble after being tricked and apprehended by his dastardly former commander, General Walker. Have no fear, because Mayor Queen sent in his DA, Adrian Chase. After some attempted legal blocking, Chase had Diggle purposely assault him—making Diggle accountable to the laws of Star City, which meant he couldn’t be transferred.
The final scenes of the episode came from Olver’s Bratva flashback. We saw a hooded woman and who turned out to be Talia al Ghul—making a team-up proposal. This week, we’ll get to see the results of this “fruitful” partnership. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Second Chances”
"TALIA AL GHUL TAKES OLIVER UNDER HER WING — In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to hack the NSA to help free Diggle (David Ramsey) but when her online efforts are flagged, she faces off against an unknown adversary. Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum) tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (guest star Juliana Harkavay), he uncovered online who has been wreaking havoc all over the country."
