This week on Arrow, three villains form a team to go up against the Green Arrow.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Spectre of the Gun” episode, Team Arrow got into a heavy-handed debate about gun control after a mass shooting at City Hall. And audiences learned a bit more about the tragic past of Renee.

More from TV

It was a usual day at the office for Oliver—well, as usual as you can get for a billionaire-vigilante-turned-politician. Then, out of the blue, a lone gunman attacked—leaving a trail of injured and dead. Oliver was angry and it was time to find the perpetrator.

However, the body count would’ve been higher had Renee not used his own firearm to temporarily stop the shooter. After Curtis gets wind of Renee’s stance on gun control, the team started taking sides on the issue.

Renee was passionate on his right to bear arms—and rightly so. In a series of flashback sequences, we learn that Renee could’ve saved his wife had he been armed during a home invasion. Curtis, after hearing about Renee’s tragedy, empathized with his colleague.

As Oliver narrowed down the suspects, he learned that the shooter was a father who thought his family could’ve been saved had Star City passed tighter gun control laws. In a final standoff, Oliver convinced the now suicidal man that no law could’ve kept the people who killed his family from acquiring guns illegally.

The episode seemed more like a public service announcement than part of this season’s story arc. This week, Arrow gets back into the flow of things with three teamed up villains who have the same goal of going after the Green Arrow. Here’s the official synopsis:

“The Sin-Eater”

"China White (guest star Kelly Hu), Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick) and Liza Warner (guest star Rutina Wesley) break out of Iron Heights and head to Star City for revenge. Oliver (Stephen Amell) tries to bring in the newly formed girl gang but the ACU intervenes mid-fight. To his surprise, they are there to arrest the Green Arrow for the murder of Detective Malone. Meanwhile, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) feels responsible for the prison break after Warner tells him she heard about him working with Damien Darhk."
