This week on Arrow, Oliver hunts for the truth about Prometheus.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Fighting Fire with Fire” episode, Mayor Oliver Queen was impeached. Making matters worse, Vigilante targeted Oliver for execution.

After revealing that the Mayor’s office lied about the circumstances surrounding Detective Billy Malone’s death, the city moved forward and impeached Oliver.

Of course Thea has a quick solution: use Felicity’s newly found Helix-knowledge and dig up some dirt on a lead council member’s private life. Thea called it “politics.” Oliver called it “unacceptable.” He wanted to fight it head on.

As Oliver and team are in their motorcade, Vigilante strikes. Thanks to Dinah’s Canary Cry and Oliver’s fighting skills, they send Vigilante running. Meanwhile, Curtis has successfully developed his T-spheres—and Rene has successfully developed his jokes for said spheres.

On a rooftop in the city, Prometheus faces off with Vigilante—warning him that the Green Arrow is his target. It’s soon revealed that Prometheus is Adrian Chase.

In a last ditch effort, Oliver makes a speech and declares the Green Arrow a vigilante who needs to be caught and prosecuted (hmm, looks like the writers have been getting some inspiration from The Dark Knight). At the same time, Vigilante was ready to assassinate Oliver. However, Team Arrow was on to him. Thanks to Curtis’s new T-spheres, they stop Vigilante from completing his task.

Oliver’s speech worked, allowing him to remain as Mayor of Star City. But all is not well, as the final scenes show Adrian approaching Susan—hinting at her abduction. This week, Oliver will learn the truth about Prometheus. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

“Checkmate”

"OLIVER SEEKS THE TRUTH — Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets closer to the truth about Prometheus. Meanwhile, Helix refuses to continue helping Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) until she does a favor for them."
