Funko offers us something very special for their March 2017 Legion of Collectors box. Okay, I’ll admit the word “special” is used in a very relative way here. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge Superman fan—probably one of the biggest fans you’ll ever run into.

Superman is the granddaddy of all modern superheroes. I use the term “modern superhero” because there are numerous debates surrounding the actual definition of “superhero” and exactly who was the first. Remember, Tarzan, the Lone Ranger, and John Carter are all considered superheroes (and their stories also made it to our 100 Greatest Superhero Stories Ever list)—and they all predate the Man of Steel. So, to remove any ambiguities, I call Superman “the first modern superhero.”
Superman, since his debut in Action Comics #1, has been very influential to not only the superhero template, but the comic book genre as a whole. Superman is the king of them all, but we know that if the Last Son of Krypton was a real person, he would be extremely humble and not even make note of that fact.
