The Details!

Legion of Collectors “Superman” Patch and Pin

I’m going to come right out and say it. This is my favorite patch out of all the patches offered to-date. Am I saying I hate the other patches. Definitely and absolutely not! I love all the past patches from both the Legion of Collectors and Collector Corps lines—but I love this just a bit more. Am I biased? Of course I am. However, you can’t deny the beauty of this patch and its intricate detailing—a colorful, full bodyshot of Superman in flight with his famous tagline accenting the border. It’s something to behold.

The pin shows a very classic Superman in his traditional akimbo pose. It’s a breath of fresh air to see Superman in lighter colors—very different from the dark turn the DC Extended Universe has taken on the silver screen. It’s a beautifully designed pin that harkens back to simpler and more innocent times.

Legion of Collectors “Superman” Packing Slip

Funko’s packing slip this month shows how they constructed their “Superman” box. With some amusing quips and fun thought bubbles, Funko takes us on a tour of how each item was created. As always, it’s an enjoyable read.

The back of the packing slip shows the obvious box for May 2017. Once you have Superman, you can’t forget the other Trinity member—Wonder Woman. Of course, due to the DC Extended Universe’s film coming out this year, Funko will be dedicating that box to the Gal Gadot version. I can’t wait!

The Superman #1 variant comic book shows a Funko version of the Big Blue Boy Scout in his signature pose. It’s a very clean cover with bright, bold colors.

Like the patch, this has just become my favorite t-shirt from the Funko line. The art is colorful and detailed and is set against a very nice sky-blue-colored shirt. Unlike other t-shirts that Funko have been offering lately, this shirt isn’t made to look vintage.  I don’t mind that and, in fact, it’s a perfect look for the hero—Superman is meant to be clean-cut and bold.

Legion of Collectors “Superman” Keychain

This is something that isn’t offered very often—a Pop! keychain. The figure is nicely detailed and has Superman in his famous flying pose. The box has a clean design, allowing views of the item from the front and sides.

Legion of Collectors “Superman” Action Figure

This “Superman” action figure is definitely something you want to leave in the box. The packaging is decorated with the comic book that started it all—Action Comics #1. You can truly see how far Superman has come since his early days.

The action figure has bendable joins and is pretty detailed. It’s a very faithful render of Joe Shuster’s art from that seminal comic. Now we see the Golden Age Superman in a three-dimensional render.

The back of the packaging shows panels from the comic book. Again, the box is basically a collectible item in and of itself.

Legion of Collectors “Classic Superman” Exclusive Pop! Figure

Finally, we get to the “big” item in this month’s box—the “Classic Superman” Pop! Figure. Superman is shown with his usual heroic stance. The suit is a very bright, almost light blue. The trunks are a bit longer, looking like shorts—which emphasizes the “strongman” look of the old days. The cape has some movement to it, as it’s sculpted in a way that makes it look like it’s flowing in the wind.
