Arrow Season 5, Episode 17 Synopsis: “Kapiushon”

This week on Arrow, Adrian Chase tortures Oliver to the breaking point.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Checkmate” episode, Oliver and the team scrambled to save Susan while Adrian taunted them at every move. Meanwhile, Felicity was being roped deeper and deeper into helping Helix—her new hacktivist friends.

Oliver visits Talia’s home high in the mountains somewhere. He quickly learns that she’s Talia al Ghul. A surprise to him, but not to fans. She reveals that Prometheus was her former student and is better known by the name “Adrian Chase.” And why did she train him? Talia is seeking vengeance for Oliver’s killing of Ras.

Back home, Oliver confronts Adrian—who informs him that Susan will die if Oliver harms or kills him. Oliver plays nice for now and rallies the rest of the team to focus on finding Susan. Felicity, who’s key to finding crucial information, is missing because she’s with Helix.

Team Arrow pays a visit to Adrian’s home. They find his wife and, soon, the SCPD. Oliver barely escapes and is later forced to hold a press conference telling the Green Arrow to give himself up.

Felicity finally returns and has information that “Adrian Chase” is just an alias—his real name is “Simon Morrison.” Oliver brings this crucial information to SCPD Chief Pike, who promises to look into it. That information soon gets Pike stabbed and in critical condition.

Felicity goes back to Helix and needs them to find Susan’s location based on a video. They agree to do it if Felicity helps them break the encryption on a Homeland Security drone.

The team goes to where Adrian is holding Susan. Oliver rescues her and encounters Adrian dressed as Prometheus. However, Oliver has an ace up his sleeve. He has John bring in Adrian’s wife, Doris, who pleads to Adrian to stop. Her cries don’t work, as he coldly stabs her, resulting in her death later.

Oliver and Adrian fight. When Oliver gets the upper hand, Talia shows up and shoots an arrow through his leg, disabling him. Oliver is abducted and held at an unknown location where Adrian hopes to put him through hell. This week, we’ll see what Adrian has in store for Oliver. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

"THE BREAKING POINT — Prometheus (Josh Segarra) goes to great lengths to break Oliver (Stephen Amell). Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) becomes worried about Oliver’s increasingly violent tendencies, which come to a head in a brutal confrontation."
