Arrow Season 5, Episode 18 Synopsis: “Disbanded”

This week on Arrow, Oliver calls in the Bratva to take down Prometheus.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Kapiushon” episode, Adrian Chase tortured Oliver to his breaking point. And everything came full circle with an extended flashback of the mission that earned Oliver unwavering loyalty from the Bratva.

Oliver was in some dire straits last week when Adrian Chase, a.k.a Prometheus, had him chained up and tortured. Adrian did everything in the book: physical and psychological. We also got a cameo from Evelyn Sharp.

Adrian wanted Oliver to admit a secret he’s been harboring. When Oliver doesn’t comply, Adrian brought in a scared Evelyn as a bargaining chip. Oliver and Evelyn were to fight to the death. When Evelyn lost the fight, Adrian stepped in and broke her neck—or so it seemed.

Oliver finally admits to a very dark secret—he enjoys killing. And it turns out that Evelyn was in on the ruse all along, as Adrian only pretended to kill her. Oliver’s admission brings us all the way back to his time in the Bratva.

As Oliver and his Russian brothers went after Kovar, the future Green Arrow went down a disturbing path, brutally torturing and murdering his opponents. It was something so dark that even Anatoly thought Oliver was going too far.

Oliver and Anatoly soon learned Kovar’s ultimate plan—to overthrow the Russian government. The Bratva were able to stop the plan, and in a final standoff, Oliver kills Kovar, earning Anatoly and the Bratva’s unwavering trust and friendship.

Back in the present, Oliver is freed after admitting to his secret. Surprising everyone as he stepped into the lair, Oliver declares an end to being the Green Arrow. Back in flashback-land, we learn that Kovar survived.

This week, Oliver cashes in on his Bratva contacts and calls them in to kill Adrian. We’re sure this will end with a great cliffhanger because Arrow will be taking a month-long break before returning for its final three episodes of the season. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

"OLIVER CALLS ON THE BRATVA FOR HELP — Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are shocked by Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) decision to call on the Bratva to help take down Prometheus (Josh Segurra). Concerned the Bratva may overstep, Diggle has a hard conversation with Oliver about what happens if things go south. Meanwhile, Felicity learns something shocking at Helix."
