Agents Of SHIELD Season 4, Episode 17 Synopsis: “Identity And Change”
By Steve Lam
This week on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Daisy and Jemma try to find a way out of the Framework.
Last week, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returned from it’s month-long hiatus with “What If…” As Daisy and Jemma awakened in a world run by Hydra, they made some startling discoveries about their friends and former enemies.
Daisy is the first one to enter the wonderful world of the Framework. And what better way to shock her into action than to learn that she has a relationship with Grand Ward. The two are soon called into Hydra headquarters.

The surprises keep coming when Daisy meets Melinda May, now a high-ranking Hydra operative. Leo Fitz soon makes his introduction and he’s basically a Mengele-type scientist. Oh, and he also has an unknown beef with Jemma.
Speaking of our favorite British scientist, the better half of FitzSimmons was already dead in this world, so she had a less glamorous entry—digging herself out of her own grave. After a run-in with Hydra agents, she becomes the organization’s most wanted.
At headquarters, Inhuman Vijay Nadeer is brought in for questioning. The sophistication of his false identification proves that he’s been working with someone on the inside. Vijay soon makes an unsuccessful escape attempt.
Meanwhile, Phil Coulson is a high school teacher who pushes Hydra propaganda—discouraging students from speaking out against this new world order. Daisy and Jemma soon find each other and reunite, paying Coulson a visit. They try to jog his memory, but he has no recollection of his real life.
Ward is revealed to be part of the Resistance and the true mole within Hydra. It seems like this guy is a double-agent no matter which world he’s in. Hey, at least he’s a good guy here. And Coulson starts to remember his real identity.
As Daisy and Jemma attempt to use their device to escape this crazy world, they discover that the Framework has rendered it useless. This week, our agents try to find another way out of this dark reality. Here’s the official synopsis from ABC:
