The Season 2 finale episode of Supergirl will see the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.

For those who loved Superman’s appearance at the start of Supergirl Season 2, we have some great news for you. Via E!, the Man of Steel is set to return for the season finale episode which is slated for a May 22, 2017 airing.

Much of Season 1 had the Girl of Steel getting advice from her very famous, yet unseen cousin. He would, occasionally, show up to lend her a helping hand, but remained mostly faceless. That’s because no one was cast yet at the time for the legendary role.

During summer of 2016, fans received the surprising news The CW had found their Man of Tomorrow in Tyler Hoechlin. It wasn’t long before everyone got a peek at this universe’s Big Blue Scout sporting the ever so recognizable “S” sigil.

Hoechlin’s Clark Kent was introduced as an homage to Christopher Reeve’s iconic portrayal—kindhearted, bumbling, and naive. And his Superman was just as much a tribute—stoic, mighty, and a beacon of hope. It was definitely a far cry from what the DC Extended Universe has been offering fans—making Hoechlin’s Superman a very well-received breath of fresh air.

However, the show is still titled “Supergirl,” so Superman couldn’t stay for long. He soon took off to take care of his own city–Metropolis. It wasn’t a definite farewell, as Clark will always be available to help his bubbly cousin Kara.

It seems that The CW is definitely finishing off Season 2 in a “super” fashion. With two Kryptonians representing the House of El, we can only speculate what sort of daunting evil forces will require this amazing team-up.

No episode title or plot details were available at the time of this report.

Supergirl is currently on hiatus, but will return to The CW on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. EST with the episode “Ace Reporter.”
