Gotham Season 3, Episode 15 Synopsis: “Heroes Rise: How The Riddler Got His Name”

This week, Gotham returns from its spring hiatus, and Edward must make a choice about his future.

Gotham returns after being off the air for three months. In “Mad City: The Gentle Art of Making Enemies,” Jerome attempted to kill Bruce in front of a crowd, but got more than he bargained for. And Edward completed his plan to avenge the death of Isabella.

Bruce’s training paid off when he went up against Jerome. The fight was definitely, in a way, one-sided—with Bruce being the better trained opponent. It was nice to see Gordon and Alfred coming on to the scene after the fact, proving that Bruce is becoming more and more independent.

In Riddler territory, Edward created a ruse, proving that Penguin could never truly love. As a grand finale, Edward coldly shoots Penguin and, supposedly, kills him. I say “supposedly” because we all know the bird is coming back.

The biggest mystery introduced is the appearance of Jim’s Uncle Frank—who was shown in a previous episode to be a member of the Court of Owls. In conversations with the Court, it seems that Uncle Frank is here to bend Jim to their will.

As we return for the final episodes of Season 3, Gotham gets a new theme—“Heroes Rise.” After being in such dire straits, I’m sure the citizens of Gotham will be happy with this brighter outlook. However, the battle for the city is far from over. Will the Court step in to try and “save” it? What will Edward do now that he’s completed his goals? And will we see the return of Nathaniel Barnes before the end of the season?

Hopefully, those questions and more will be answered. Here’s the official synopsis from Fox:
