Gal Gadot read for Wonder Woman without knowing it

In a revealing new interview, Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot talks about becoming an icon, and how she got the part without knowing she was auditioning for it.

There is no question that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was one of the best things about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. From her elegance portraying Diana Prince to seeing her badass alter ego fly in to save the day, complete with electrifying guitar riffs that announced the arrival of one of DC’s most beloved superheroes in her motion picture debut.

Getting the role of the Amazonian princess wasn’t easy. Gadot didn’t know she was reading for the part, and she was sequestered in her trailer so that she couldn’t see the other women reading for the part in Batman v Superman:

"When I auditioned for Batman v Superman, I didn’t know it was for Wonder Woman. The director, Zack Snyder, asked me to do a camera test. That was torture. They were looking at six or seven girls, and we were all in separate trailers and were told to stay inside until they called us. Waiting is my enemy Number One, and I was losing my mind. So, I decided to put on Beyonce. Who runs the world? Girls! I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyonce!"

With only a few weeks to go until Wonder Woman’s June 2 release, and now that fans have seen all of the teasers and trailers for the film, there is a lot of excitement around the newest entry in the DC Extended Universe. So far the DCEU has been met with mixed feelings after the less than tepid reception for Batman v Superman.

Next: Lots to celebrate, but no Star Wars Celebration 2018

There is a lot of hope for the future of DC Comics movies riding on the success of Wonder Woman, and it’s a very good thing that Diana Prince is in Gal Gadot’s capable hands.
